it's been a while. after T and A from stuttgart arrived last friday nite at detroit metro airport things are just going crazy. late dinner in birmingham and a quick visit to the corner and dick o'dows finished that night. we were preparing for a long roadtrip to miami, southbeach, florida.
saturday: leaving detroit going south with the partymobile after a nice breakfast at IHOP. not much happening besides driving and watching the scenery fly by with some of the nicest tunes available playing in the background. had some thai food after checking in to a motel 8 somewhere near the city of columbia.
sunday: driving again. overnight destination: daytona beach. massive outlet shopping somewhere along the highway. daytona itself looked pretty destroyed after all the spring break madness happening there some weeks ago. thank god we missed that. there was a club called razzle's or dazzle's (whatever) where we finally ended up after dinner at some oyster bar.
monday: only about 4 hours from daytona to miami. we drove thru several thunderstorms and the forecast for miami was more rain. great. but thinks do work out every once in a while: we booked a room via hotwire.com and were very, very lucky with this place: the Whitelaw Hotel - right in the center of where we wanted to be. 5 minute walk to the beach, great restaurants, bars and clubs. going out monday night we went to different places, one of them was the most beautiful hotel bar i have ever seen (will post the link to the place later). another funny thing happened waiting in line for a hip-hop club: jay-z walked out of the door and passed us while jumping into this big car that picked him and his mates up.
tuesday: after all the driving it just feels good to enjoy either the sun at south beach, our hotel bar, shopping or just chilling doing nothin. wow - it's 6:22 pm already. at 7 pm the open bar at the whitelaw starts.
