chicago summary march 17-19th 2006

working from 7:30-10:00 on friday didn't keep me from another nice roadtrip to chicago. 4:30 minutes later i saw the skyline - half a tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes and wearing sunglasses. drove downtown to the loop area 5 minutes to millenium park. tried to catch some of the st. patrick's day action friday afternoon, but the irish pubs in reach were more than packed with tourists (and no i don't consider myself a tourist ;) went back to the hotel around 4 or 5 pm tried to catch some sleep for my big night out at the smartbar tryin to meet up with ms ellen allien.

around 10pm i jumped into the next available cab heading for n. clark street: busy with mostly hammered st. patrick's victims. decided to avoid the crowded pubs along the street and had dinner (some kind of pasta) in an italian restaurant close to the night's venue. hit smartbar around 12-1: very nice bar/club - nicest one i've seen so far in the US. and it turned out to be the most fun nite out in the US as well. ellen showed up, went through her bags of records and rocked the hell out of the crowd... thanks for stopping by ms allien ;) next time i'll make sure to shoot for the 4am lights earlier - what a party killer.

yes, after this everyone would need some sleep. walking around town (millenium park, navy pier, ...) saturday afternoon with perfect weather was great - check the flickr pics... that city really got me.

another night out at the sonothèque (1444 west chicago) with chicago house music lay ahead. cab driver dropped me a little too late, so i kind of had to "search" for the place with no visible sign outside. eventually found it and was happy to be there :)

a quick and late stop at le passage finished the nightlife for this weekend.

calling 12pm a "late" checkout is a joke by the way.
